Well I Am Challenge

There is a wellness revolution sweeping the streets of South Africa, an initiative with the power to inspire courage and determination in the hearts of even the most cautious and apprehensive. This is a project of power designed to challenge and change the face of fitness as we know it. This is a programme that is testing the boundaries of physical fortitude and mental commitment, removing excuses from the equation and promoting the promise of purpose.

The well i am challenge is a 13week initiative dedicated to transformation. It is an online fitness

journey in which body, mind, soul and lifestyle are altered forever. Accompanied by a kindred support network, the challenge is unlike any outfit ever seen in South African exercise circles. well i am has brought ingenuity and creativity to the fitness arena with a novel approach to the online fitness experience. It has pushed the boundaries of the exercise landscape, providing the wellness community with something to test their resolve and challenge their will to change.


According to well i am creator and training guru, Lisa Raleigh, South Africans needed a change. The initiative has provided the public with a means to challenge their own perceived limitations, giving them the tools to redefine their fitness goals. “Firstly, with well i am, it’s up to you to make the change. We’ve supplied all the tools you need to improve your lifestyle, but there’s no spoon feeding,” Lisa explains. “We consider ourselves to be focused on ‘teaching you to fish’ versus catching the fish for you.”


well i am lets the participant choose their own fitness journey. So whether it’s running in the sand, navigating treacherous landscapes on wheels, yoga stretches, lifting weights at the gym, or pounding the pavement, this is a challenge that does not discriminate. Nor will it interfere with any concurrent fitness regimes.


“The nature of well i am means we do not conflict with any other fitness challenge, online or other. We’re filling a gap in the market without stepping on the toes of any other fitness endeavours. Any exterior challenge can be undertaken alongside the well i am challenge, which means you can double your chances of winning!”


What makes the initiative different is its ability to invoke motivational determination in even the most sceptical of participants. Its success lies in imaginative offerings, interactive support and lucrative prizes.


“There are some great wellness initiatives out there, but we really wanted to add two important

elements to the broader concept – an online community of support and interactivity, and an educational element where challengers are given the information they need to make permanent change,” Lisa says.


Not only does well i am offer prizes to challenge winners, it rewards those who simply participate. A Bosch blender, DisChem health screening and a range of retail sporting vouchers are on offer for all those who join. Like a ball in motion, encouragement of this calibre ultimately marks the beginning of personal change. Coupled with an online interactive support network of fellow challengers and experienced trainers, the initiative has effortlessly created an exercise community that’s fun to be apart of.


“We encourage our challengers to use our online platforms to access a wealth of information and instruction, and we’re also there to explain each part of it. It’s about sharing. Having a wealth of current, ongoing, instant and real information at your fingertips is important not only on an educational front, but on a motivational one as well. We’re creating a wellness community.”


Perfectly planned and brilliantly executed, the well i am challenge wields the power to excite and enthuse an entire society. The fitness community is already enthralled with the concept, and the excitement is contagious. Corporate companies are jumping on board, encouraging their employees to join the ride.


“I am lucky to have a wide network of support in the corporate world, and the success of this initiative is largely due to them,” Lisa says. “I love that health and wellness is no longer being dubbed a ‘trend’ or a ‘hobby’, it is moving into bigger and broader spaces, and corporates especially are starting to see the irremovable relationship between health and productivity.


“For this reason, more corporates are ready to get behind exciting new health ventures like this one, all designed with the greater good of healthier lifestyles, relationships and work environments in mind. Everybody wins.”


The success of this initiative can not only been seen in the support of the corporate community, but in the testimony of those who have taken part.


“We were lucky enough to encourage over 1000 participants to take part in the first challenge, far exceeding our entry goals. Our four winners were the biggest inspiration coming out of the event. All of them made important lifestyle changes, which comes with discipline, sacrifice and real effort. They are all great ambassadors for the well i am brand.”
